Wasting Time

All i have to say is that if Graham has only those two times to mention where he’s worked that hard on a project to see it disappear, then he is lucky. I wouldn’t even know where to begin. I guess I would mention the two times when I was done editing an issue of a newspaper in my college editor days and at 7am, after being up all night, Pagemaker would die and take everything with it. At that point, headlines can go in upside down and I wouldn’t care. The almighty apple-S could never seem to defeat the devils of the machine in those days. Then there was all the work I did in the late spring/early summer this year that disappeared along with my laptop when it was stolen in Milan. I had two chapters of a book written and no matter how much I tried, the second time around I’m sure was far more critical of the writer being engaged since, well, I was sure grumpy for this being the second time around.

Not that mere mortal issues would ever effect my transcendent philosophical arguments….
