What about Autopilot?

Harman has a post up about a particularly horrible flight over Pakistan, where the pilots left the cockpit to enter in a scuffle with flight attendants. There was also that flight from San Diego last month during which the pilots apparently fell asleep and overshot their landing in Minnesota by some 200 miles. Combining the two stories here, I think there’s something comforting about knowing my pilots can fall asleep and/or engage in fisticuffs (love that word) and the plane goes along just fine. More worrisome would be if the pilots announced they were taking this flight on their own since the onboard computer system had crashed.
